BASIC FUNCTION:

The Computer Science ย Teacher will serve as an educational leader as it pertains to technology at the school. The role will include teaching computer principles to K- 8th grade students and assisting the campus with minor technology troubleshooting. The role has specific duties and responsibilities detailed below.


MAJOR JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Computer Science /Technology Instruction

  • Basic typing/ keyboard skillsย 
  • Using web browsersย 
  • Software Applicationsย 
  • File maintenance and organizationย 
  • Using the internet for researchย 
  • Basic computer troubleshootingย 
  • Online privacy, security, and safety skillsย 
  • Coding/Robotics skillsย 
  • 3-D printingย 
  • Content Creationย 

Professional educator

  • Submit weekly lesson plans
  • Organize technology units to align with Enrichment Strands and Texas State Standardsย 
  • Keep order in the classroom and handles student behavior issues in accordance with school system policies
  • Other duties as assignedย 
  • Collaborative team memberย 
  • Assist with campus projects and special initiatives as requestedย 

Manage the technology equipment

  • Provide guidance, support and direction to teachers and campus regarding technology platforms (Google Suite, Seesaw, Clever, etc.)
  • Communicate needs with STEM Department leadย 
  • Stay up to date on changes and advancements in educational technologyย 
  • May also assist with a variety of audiovisual equipment as neededย 


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: (Education, Training, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Must have 3 years' previous experience working with school-age children (PK-8 Grade).
  • 2-year college completion of professional certification in a related field (Education, Technology, Computer Science or related)
  • Strong leadership, classroom management, and organizational skills a MUST
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (As scheduled - 3 classes) * Mandatory Faculty Meetings (Tuesday 7:30 am to 5:00 )ย 

(Rotating Shifts, Overtime, Weekend Work, Some Traveling - possible overnight field trips)


WORKING CONDITIONS:ย 

Primarily at desk with some degree of standing or walking as needed per event.ย 

Extended periods of standing may be required while giving instruction; may vary depending on the eventย 

Normal physical activity including some bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting as applicable to assigned activities.ย
