We’re seeking a Staff Backend Enginee r to join our talented team as an early engineer. In this role, you’ll work closely with our founders and cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence, build scalable systems, and contribute directly to shaping the future of investing. This is a hands‑on, highly impactful role in a fast‑paced, engineering- and product‑focused com

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain robust backend systems that power our trading platform and integrate with major U.S. brokerages.
  • Lead the development of our pilot portal, enabling seamless user interactions for data input, persistence, and broker integration.
  • Reverse-engineer undocumented APIs and implement distributed systems that scale as we grow.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, user‑centric solutions.
  • Drive impact in a hands‑on capacity, directly contributing to a rapidly growing and innovative company.
Qualifications
  • 5-7+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer, ideally in a fast‑paced startup environment.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript for backend development (open to other languages).
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud infrastructure.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, API integration, and cloud‑hosted applications.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling backend systems to support rapid growth.
Nice-to-Haves:
  • Previous experience as a software engineer for trading, investing, or fintech platforms.
  • Previous experience working in hyper‑growth start up.
  • Experience with integrations involving platforms like Robinhood, Stripe, Plaid, or similar platforms/apps.
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or other cloud infrastructure.
  • Passion for building user‑centered solutions and delivering impact.
  • A self‑starter mentality with strong ownership and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with some of these backend tech stacks: node.js, typescript, graphql, nest.js, gcp, google pubsub, postgres sql, etc.
