Position Description: Job Title: Door Host
Reports to: Bar Manager
Location: noma hi-fiCompensation: $16 - $22 per hour
Position Summary:
The Door Host is responsible for managing the flow of guests during high-volume evenings at noma hi-fi, ensuring a safe and welcoming experience for all. This individual checks IDs, monitors seating capacity, and helps direct guests inside the space. In rare instances of guest conflict or disruption, the Door Lead supports de-escalation efforts in coordination with management. The role blends the approachable, guest-facing demeanor of a host with the calm authority of a security presence by providing a consistent and professional front-line experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet guests upon arrival in a professional, approachable manner
Check government-issued IDs to verify that all guests are 21+
Monitor and maintain legal occupancy levels inside noma hi-fiTemporarily hold the door when noma hi-fi is at capacity and manage re-entry when space becomes available
Guide guests toward open seating or standing space as appropriate
Be attentive to guest behavior and body language to anticipate and diffuse potential issues
Use de-escalation techniques to manage disruptive or unsafe behavior when needed
Remove problematic guests in a safe, respectful, and discreet manner
Communicate clearly and respectfully with both guests and employees
Place and remove a stanchion to temporarily hold the line in the rare event of needing to step away from the door
Report any safety concerns, guest incidents, or escalations to management immediately
Qualifications & Expectations:
Prior experience in hospitality, nightlife, security, or guest services is strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to manage guest-facing conflict or high-tension situations
Strong de-escalation skills and situational awareness in fast-paced environments
Comfortable checking IDs, enforcing entry standards, and managing high guest traffic
Ability to stay composed and respond professionally in high-pressure or challenging situations
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work late-night weekend shifts, especially Friday - Saturday evenings
Ability to work independently while remaining part of a larger team
Ability to stand for extended periods and remain attentive in a dynamic environment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Must be able to work in both indoor and occasionally outdoor entry areas
