Job title: Network Analyst (NOC Analyst L3)
Location:ย Newark, NJ
Work Type:ย Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Mode of Interview:ย Phone and In-Person


Position Overview

The Level 3 NOC Analyst is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the health of the organization's network infrastructure and systems. This role involves providing advanced technical support and resolving network issues while acting as an escalation point for Level 1 and Level 2 analysts. The analyst will also provide mentorship, collaboration, and the ability to isolate availability and performance issues leading to site outages as they occur.

Required Skills

  • 3+ yearsย of advanced experience in network operations, technology, and support.
  • 3+ yearsย of experience withย SolarWindsย or similar NMS (Network Management Systems) toolsets as a Power User.
  • 3+ yearsย of knowledge ofย ITIL processes, best practices, and workflows.
  • Clear understanding of networking protocols and technologies including:
    • TCP/IP, TELNET, SSH, TRACEROUTE
    • DNS, DHCP, VLANs
    • Routing and Switching
  • Certifications such asย CompTIA Network+ย or equivalent are a plus.
  • Relocation Requirement:ย If the candidate resides more than 1 hour from the client site, they must be willing to relocate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor network devices and infrastructure, responding to alerts and incidents.
  • Perform diagnostics and escalate issues to Level 3 support or other teams as needed.
  • Create, log, and track incident tickets, ensuring accurate documentation and timely response.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools to proactively monitor network health and device availability.
  • Troubleshoot routers and switches, acting as a conduit to the network engineering team.
  • Maintain keen awareness of NOC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Runbooks.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of NJ Transit's network topology to quickly isolate problems and minimize Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Act as the lead analyst to identify, isolate, and restore services to remote locations.
  • Serve as a senior team member, working collaboratively and acting as a gatekeeper to the network engineering group.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to remain current with technologies.
  • Maintain flexibility to work alternate shifts when required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as outlined by the NOC Shift Supervisor.
