Job title: SolarWinds Monitoring Engineer / NOC Tool Developer (Individual Contributor Role - 7x24 NOC Support Environment)
Location: Newark, NJ
Role Overview:
Support the 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC) by developing, maintaining, and enhancing monitoring tools in SolarWinds (NPM, NTA, NCM, IPAM) to ensure proactive monitoring, alerting, and visibility of network, WiFi, compute, and application infrastructure. Focus on customization, integration, automation, and best-practice recommendations to minimize downtime and support rapid issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recommend, design, implement, and integrate monitoring & alerting solutions in SolarWinds, with strong ServiceNow integration (events → incidents, workflows).
  • Create, modify, and maintain customized dashboards and reports using Power BI and SolarWinds SQL tables.
  • Gather requirements, design, build, and validate enterprise monitoring systems for infrastructure/applications.
  • Perform network/server discovery, device monitoring, topology visualization, and assist in root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Analyze tools/designs against industry best practices; troubleshoot complex issues and make enhancements.
  • Automate repeatable tasks (alerts, event handling, report scheduling).
  • Collaborate with Network, Windows, Cyber Security, and ops teams for holistic monitoring.
  • Maintain runbooks, logs, and records per ITIL best practices in ServiceNow.
  • Monitor system health, SLA targets, and proactively suggest improvements/tools.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years hands-on with enterprise monitoring/observability platforms (implementation, customization, support).
  • SME-level expertise in SolarWinds (required): NPM, NTA, NCM, IPAM; platform architecture, alerting, reporting, performance optimization.
  • Strong experience integrating SolarWinds with ServiceNow (event/incident/workflow).
  • Hands-on with Syslog and SNMP v2/v3 (traps, configuration, troubleshooting).
  • Proven automation of monitoring tasks (alert/event automation, report generation/scheduling).
  • Configuring/managing: monitoring profiles, polling policies, thresholds, alert conditions.
  • Ability to diagnose/resolve complex issues across network, infra, and application monitoring.
  • Platform admin experience in large-scale enterprise environments (stability, scalability, performance).
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
