Job Description Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced radiation-detecting instrumentation. This role is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring high-quality imaging, and delivering exceptional patient care in a hospital environment.

Work Shift: Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of nuclear medicine imaging procedures using specialized equipment
  • Prepare and administer radioactive chemical compounds (radiopharmaceuticals) safely and accurately
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement to prevent extravasation of radiopharmaceuticals
  • Process imaging data and perform computer-enhanced image analysis
  • Provide physicians with diagnostic-quality images, data analysis, and relevant patient information
  • Ensure adherence to radiation safety protocols and regulatory standards
  • Deliver excellent patient care with a strong focus on comfort, safety, and communication
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service and professionalism at all times

PRN Status (As-Needed) Requirements:

  • PRN status means no guaranteed set schedule or hours
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 12 hours every two weeks (bi-weekly), per PRN Commitment Agreement
  • Work hours are based on departmental needs and may vary week to week
  • May be asked to pick up additional shifts to cover staffing gaps (e.g., call-outs, shortages)
  • Total hours may fluctuate depending on operational demand

Additional Job Description

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • SCRQSA certification required
  • Advanced ARRT registration preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
