Description Summary
The Clinic Veterinarian for the Veterinary Technology Program is responsible for supervising veterinary technician students during laboratory and clinical sessions. This position supports student learning, provides clinical oversight, and contributes to the achievement of program goals while ensuring services are delivered in accordance with current legal, ethical, and professional veterinary standards. This position is part-time. 8-12 hours per week.
Examples of Duties
  1. Supervision of the activities of the vet tech students during laboratory or clinical sessions at Iowa Central Vet Tech Program.
  1. Provide comprehensive examinations to the patients of the Iowa Central Community College Vet Tech Program.
  1. Provide animal care, prescriptions, referrals and consultative services as needed to the patients of the Iowa Central Vet Tech.
  1. Contribute to the achievement of the Vet Tech program goals.
  1. Provide additional leadership to the program.
  1. Attend meetings as required by the Program and/or College.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
  1. Be able and willing to represent the college in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve.
  1. Act professionally in the clinical setting.
  1. Assume responsibility; deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgement when making decisions.
  1. Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and general public.
  1. Possess strong human relation skills, being able to work with diverse personalities.
  1. Be a creative, energetic, and self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  1. Possess a basic knowledge of personal computers
  1. Perform duties that are in compliance with current legal and ethical practices of the veterinarian profession.
  1. Demonstrate competencies and clinical skills appropriate to the practice of dentistry
  1. Involve the student in the learning process.
Qualifications
  1. Must have three years of recent veterinarian experience.
  1. Current Veterinarian with Iowa license.
