Job description

We are seeking Software Developers to join our Vancouver Client Technology, Investment Technology, and Operations Technology teams. In these roles, you will work closely with business to design and build systems that unlock efficiency, surface new insights from data and create meaningful impact for the firm and our clients.

At Orbis, we value curiosity, ownership, and thoughtful problem-solving. We offer competitive compensation and reward performance, but just as importantly, we invest in our people and the environment they work in.

Why Orbis?

  • Culture. Our culture is rooted in our Core Values. Everyone's voice matters-whether quiet or bold-and challenging the status quo is part of everyday work.
  • Autonomy. While you'll receive support, you'll have ownership over your work.
  • Growth opportunities. We actively support continuous learning through mentorship, development plans, and dedicated personal development time.
  • Agile environment. We strive to balance personal needs, team collaboration, and client outcomes in a flexible and sustainable way.
  • Philanthropy. Our people can contribute to society in a unique and personal way, through various philanthropy opportunities and programs.

What you will do

  • Full-Stack and Full-Lifecycle software development. Partner with business teams to design, build, and maintain software solutions that deliver real value.
  • Solve complex technical and/or business problems. Work as part of a global team, contributing to design discussions, code reviews, and technical presentations.
  • Bring new ideas to the table. Bring new ideas forward by researching technologies and processes. We allow for personal development days to support this exploration.

Who we are looking for

  • Potential over experience. Many of our most successful hires started with limited industry experience. We care more about how you think than what you've done.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a growth mindset. You're genuinely interested in learning, continuously improving, and applying what you learn to deliver better outcomes.
  • Strong technical fundamentals. While having experience in the Orbis tech stack is an asset, it is certainly not a necessity.
  • More than just a developer. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions are essential. As our technology roles extend beyond traditional development, we seek people who are eager to grow into broader, non-traditional responsibilities and make a meaningful impact.
  • Team player. We work closely with many different people across business and tech on every project. Caring more about the "we" than the "I".

Your qualifications & experience

  • 2+ years of industry experience is preferred, though strong new graduates with strong records and relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field.
  • Object-oriented programming experience .NET experience is an asset, not required.
  • AI. Experience using AI development tools (e.g. Claude Code).
  • Strong interpersonal skills as developers work closely with business on solutions.

Skills you will develop

  • Back end: C#, .NET, MS SQL. Front end: React and Angular.
  • Cloud Technologies (AWS), building RESTful APIs, systems architecture/design.
  • AI-enabled development: building AI-integrated applications, agents, workflows, and securely exposing business data through MCPs.
  • Hands-on understanding of Financial Industry concepts.

About the Teams

The Investment Technology team builds and supports the systems used by Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Implementers. We work directly with the Investment Team to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues, and deliver capabilities that improve the quality, speed, and reliability of investment decision-making.

The Client Technology team primarily supports the systems and platforms that power client reporting and client-facing business processes. Working closely with Client Services, Sales, and Marketing teams, we develop features, integrations, and automations that enable the production and delivery of accurate, timely client reports, streamline client servicing workflows, and ensure trusted client data is available across the firm.

The Operations Technology team primarily supports the OPS platform, our internally built portfolio management system. Together with the Fund Operations business teams, we build out features and automations to help provide oversight of our counterparties, perform investment manager duties, as well as to provide key portfolio data to all the other teams in the firm.

What We Offer

The annual base salary for this position will be between $100,000 and $160,000 per year. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's subject knowledge, skill level, and experience. We offer very competitive total compensation, with strong performers earning higher performance-based bonuses.
