Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Recovery

Location: Anacortes,WA

Department/Unit: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Preoperative Unit

Salary Range: $60,000 to $120,000 Yearly

Shift:8 Hours Days

Position Summary:

Elitecare Medical Staffing seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Recovery Unit within the PACU. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice.

Unit Overview:
  • Preop Beds: 10
  • PACU Beds: 4
  • Nurse-Patient Ratios:
  • Preop: 1:1 for admissions or up to 5 for discharges
  • PACU: 1:2 (1:1 for airway management)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Preop and PACU settings.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery progress post-anesthesia.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery.
Common Cases:
  • Orthopedic surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders, ortho spine)
  • TLIF, hernias, laparoscopic cholecystectomy
  • OB/GYN procedures (hysteroscopy, hysterectomy)
  • Urology (cystoscopy, prostate)
  • ENT surgeries (including pediatric cases)
Required Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Experience and Skills:
  • Must be a well-rounded nurse with strong critical care skills.
  • Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation.
  • Experience in a PACU or similar recovery setting is preferred.
Technology:
  • Familiarity with Meditech EMR system.
Additional Information:
  • The charge nurse oversees both PACU and outpatient areas without a patient assignment.
  • A coordinator is available for support as needed; no house supervisor present.
  • There are currently no nurse aids assigned to this unit.
  • Patients on mechanical ventilation are directed to the ICU without recovery in the PACU.
