Job Summary:

Greet customers enthusiastically, assess their needs, and recommend products. Explain merchandise benefits, answer questions, and provide samples. Stay informed on promotions, sales, policies, and security. Process payments, bag items, and stock shelves, and refill coffee.


Qualifications:

Proven working experience in retail sales, working knowledge of market and consumer requirements and dynamics, solid interpersonal and communication skills, proven track record of over-achieving sale quotas, proficiency of sales principles and customer service practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet customers, Actively seek out consumers shopping in store and offer assistance understand their needs, and provide tailored product solutions and/or samples.
  • Achieve company objectives in customer service by ensuring that all customers feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times. 
  • Ability to cross-sell merchandise and services of entire property 
  • Adhere to ServeSafe guidelines for sanitation and ability to utilize tools/PPE per Health Codes.
  • Maintain positive rapport and market-driven enthusiasm with customers to encourage repeat business and referrals
  • Stay updated on product knowledge, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
  • Self-motivation to support internal drive toward sales goals
  • Adaptability to pivot and adjust sales tactics
  • Resilience/Determination (to handle objections and stay motivated)
  • Must have the ability to accurately calculate money. 
  • Able to Count in and balance cash drawer. 
  • Complete sales transactions for all items in the convenience store, including alcohol and tobacco products. 
  • Ability to operate Point of Sale registers, scanners, scales, and credit/debit card terminals. 
  • Ability to memorize product locations and accurately direct customers. 
  • Keep the checkout area, coffee area and store clean, orderly, and well stocked. 
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as the ability to multitask. 
  • Ensure all merchandise is stocked and displays are attractive, priced correctly, and displayed in a safe manner. 
  • Maintain quality brand image standards. 
  • Maintain professional and welcoming appearance.
  • Monitor loss prevention activities



Work Environment and ADA Requirements:

Must be able to stand for entire shift. Must be able to work in an environment with loud background noise and smoky conditions. Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, twist, crouch, squat, lift. Must be able to listen and respond to visual and aural cues.
