CGI by Timken is in search of an Associate Manufacturing Engineer

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer supports new programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and developing production controls.  Responsible for the design of production tools and/or machines and for developing solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes, shop floor routing and tooling.  Incorporates all the production related aspects Engineering Change orders (ECOs) and revision changes dictated by the customer.  Works with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering on priorities and implementation of improvement projects

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops processes and tooling for new programs.
  • Supervises assembly and proofing.
  • Designs various tools and machines for manufacturing company products.
  • Reviews manufacturing processes for cost-effectiveness and feasibility before and after engineering releases.
  • Coordinates engineering releases and changes related to routings, standards, data entry, and follow-up.
  • Sets priorities with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Implements cost-reduction projects.
  • Maintains documentation as needed.
  • Stays updated on new manufacturing technology.
  • Investigates applications of new technology.
  • Recommends new technology for company use when practical.
  • Addresses corrective and preventative actions.
  • Performs equipment and process validations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Functional Skills:

  • Knowledgeable concerning mechanical principles, machining practices
  • Knowledgeable concerning modern fabrication and assembly techniques and machine-shop practices and techniques is desirable
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000, ISO 13485 and AS9100 quality management systems and related requirements Strong drafting skills using Solidworks and AutoCAD
  • Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production problems in a timely manner
  • Has initiative and able to work effectively with little direction and/or few guidelines
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at all levels within the organization as well as with external customers and suppliers
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and data processing, familiarity with complex ERP systems and MRP principles
  • Familiar with computer-controlled machine tools and high-volume automated production equipment CADCAM experience desirable.
  • Familiarity of Six Sigma and Lean practices desirable Electro-mechanical experience desirable

Minimum Qualifications: 

B.S.M.E. degree or a B.S. degree with a concentration in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Not less than three (3) years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
