No Experience Oil Rig jobs are entry-level positions on oil rigs that do not require previous experience in the oil and gas industry. These roles often include positions such as roustabout, roughneck, or general laborer, where on-the-job training is provided. Workers perform basic tasks to support the rig's operation, such as cleaning, maintenance, and assisting more experienced crew members. These jobs are physically demanding and can involve long hours in challenging environments, but they offer a way to start a career in the oil industry and potentially move up to more skilled roles over time.

What skills and qualifications are needed to work on an oil rig with no prior experience?

To thrive as an entry-level oil rig worker, you typically need a high school diploma or GED, physical fitness, and a willingness to learn safety protocols and basic mechanical tasks. Familiarity with safety equipment, hand tools, and completion of certifications like H2S Alive or Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) are commonly required. Strong teamwork, reliability, and communication skills help individuals adapt to demanding schedules and challenging environments. These skills and qualifications are vital to ensure safety, productivity, and effective collaboration on oil rigs.

Job description

Description:

Automotive Service Technician — Full-Time | No Experience Needed

Take 5 Oil Change | Tri-Cities, TN

$11/hr + tips + performance bonuses — earn more as you grow.

Take 5 Oil Change is the neighborhood go-to for fast, friendly oil changes — done right while customers stay in their car. We've been in business for over 35 years with hundreds of locations nationwide, and over 90% of our field leadership started right where you'd be starting: in the shop.

What the job looks like day to day: You'll greet customers when they pull onto the lot, perform oil changes, check and top off fluids, inspect tire pressure, replace wipers and filters, and keep the shop clean and organized. It's hands-on work with real customer interaction — think of it as part technician, part hospitality. We train you on everything from the technical side to the point of sale system.

No automotive experience needed. If you show up with a good attitude, a willingness to learn, and you genuinely like helping people, we'll teach you the rest. Paid training from day one.

What we offer full-time team members: $11/hr base pay plus tips at all locations. Performance bonuses as you earn certifications — your pay grows with you. Health, dental, and vision insurance. Paid time off and vacation. Free oil changes on your personal vehicle. Paid training and development. Real career growth — we promote from within.

This is physical work. You'll be on your feet, bending, lifting, and moving throughout your shift. You should be able to lift up to 50 lbs comfortably. Hours of operation are Monday–Friday 7am–8pm, Saturday 8am–6pm, Sunday 9am–5pm.

Locations hiring: Kingsport (Fort Henry Dr, W Center St, E Stone Dr), Bristol (Vance Dr), Johnson City (Browns Mill Rd), Greeneville (E Andrew Johnson Hwy). Let us know your preferred location when you apply.

Take 5 Oil Change shops in TN are owned and operated by WSM Ventures, LLC, a franchisee in the Take 5 Oil Change network. WSM is an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements:

Must be at least 16 years of age (18 preferred). Able to lift up to 50 lbs and comfortable standing, bending, and moving throughout your shift. Reliable transportation to get to and from work. Legally authorized to work in the United States. Willing to submit to a background check. During the training period, you'll need to provide your own training uniform: black pants or shorts, black shirt, and non-slip black shoes. Company uniforms are provided after training is complete.

No automotive experience required — we provide paid training.
