ALL CANDIDATES HAVE TO BE LOCAL.
OCTO DC-Net is seeking a Database Developer to support a team responsible for creating and maintaining a telecommunications-focused, web-based Operational Support System (OSS) application. This role will be an integral part of an Agile/Scrum team, developing and maintaining an Oracle database that supports the OSS. The database currently utilizes spatial data and integrates with GIS software.
A major focus of the initial project phase will be migrating data from an existing Oracle 11g Database to Oracle 19c. This migration must be executed in a stepwise fashion to ensure existing functionality dependent on the Oracle 11g Database continues to operate properly while the data model and objects are seamlessly upgraded.
The Database Developer will create sophisticated data models using SQL, triggers, and procedural SQL that handle multistep transactions, and will visualize data models using entity relationship diagrams (ERDs) and other methods. In addition to Oracle databases (11g and 19c), the application integrates data from third-party applications stored in Microsoft SQL Server databases. The project also uses Esri''s GIS Server and Desktop product lines (e.g., ArcGIS Server, SDE, ArcGIS Pro) for geospatial visualization of Oracle data and to support more sophisticated mapping and analysis requests.
We are looking for a mature team member who can take direction, provide technical guidance, and communicate problems as they arise — a lifelong learner who knows how to work through a problem, propose solutions, and ask for help when needed.
Suitable candidates will be asked to complete a Pseudo-Code Assessment as part of the interview process, demonstrating general database development competency.
