Compensation Data
Compensation Data: Pay Rate: $28.81-$40.54 / hour (Pay Grade 14-21) plus ROA Bonus
This role is eligible for overtime and the Nucor Steel Return on Assets (ROA) bonus. This annual bonus is based on the financial performance of the division.
Nucor Steel Seattle Return on Assets bonus average over the last 5 years: 27.29%
Profit Sharing:
This position is eligible for comprehensive Nucor benefits including annual bonuses, tuition assistance, employee stock purchase program discount and match, 401(k) match, service awards, paid time off, and profit sharing.
Profit sharing percentage = 15.29% (10 year average)
Basic Job Functions:
The responsibilities of the Met Lab Tech include but are not limited to:
  • Safely operating machines (saw, grinder, Impact Machine, CNC mill, bend test, etching acid bath, and Tensile Machine)
  • Gathering, organizing, recording, preparing and testing all samples as specified by the testing plans and other testing procedures in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assisting the team in maintaining test and measurement equipment within calibration as required by company policies and/or specifications referenced in customer orders
  • Safely performing maintenance tasks related to the area equipment
  • Providing support to other team members in the Met Lab area
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area; entering data into computer system
  • Participating in all training and developmental programs
  • Learning the duties of the chemistry and tensil lab positions and filling in as needed

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• The ability to lift 50 lbs to a height of 42" on a daily basis
• Willingness and ability to work 12-hr rotating shifts incl. nights, weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
• 2 year associate degree or college degree in a related field
• Experience with quality inspections including micrometers and dial calipers
• Experience with ASTM steel standards and testing methods
• Mechanical ability and software proficiency
• Experience with OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy)
