Expected Starting Salary Range: $26.42 - 39/hr

We are seeking a highly flexible and motivated candidate who is available to support laboratory staffing needs. This position is expected to be routinely available between the hours of 3:00p and 11:30p as required by laboratory need. Flexible full-time hours are available to this position as long as there is a staffing need to be met as determined by manager. When staffing is optimal, this position will be responsible for maintaining one 8 hour shift bi-weekly. The candidate we are seeking for this position should have the intention to move into a full time position once one becomes available.

Working as a Lab Technologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center you will:
Conduct, direct or assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research
Participate in scheduled cross trained rotation and demonstrate continued aptitude in various sections of the Clinical Laboratory
Recommend areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions
Autonomously perform a variety of laboratory tests
Operate instruments; perform checks, calibrations, preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting from written guidelines
Perform and report Quality Control Procedures
Identify Q.C. failures
Prepare samples for analysis, store and preserve specimens, prepare reagents, assist with monitoring supply inventories, receive and stock supplies when necessary
Perform registration and sample collections as required by location
Perform routine procedures within respective discipline, including the collection and investigation of data which will affect choices regarding patient care
Assist with development of new procedures and updating of existing procedures
Train bench personnel and students in bench procedures
Function as a key operator for testing systems, coordinating activities of quality control, maintenance, and inventory management
Act as a superuser for the laboratory information system
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science OR associate degree in related science
Lab Tech I - 0-2 years of experience
Lab Tech II - 2 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, 4 years of experience with associate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified MLS or MLT through national certifying agency
