Job description

Physical Therapy Assistant

Administer Physical Therapy treatments to patients, working under the plan of care developed by the Physical Therapist. Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator and/or the Director of Rehab Services.

Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital's mission, vision and values.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Follow the Physical Therapy Plan of Care for each patient, as developed by the Physical Therapist.
  • Utilize modalities, exercise, compensation, and other "hands-on" care to carry out the Physical Therapy Plan of Care for each patient.
  • Provide clear verbal and written instruction to patients as indicated by the Plan of Care.
  • Request additional evaluation and input from the Physical Therapist when a patient's condition has changed or the method of therapy care does not present with significant improvement in a patient's condition.
  • Consistently work at a production pace.
  • Readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required

No experience required, other than that acquired through the acquisition of the PTA degree and licensure. Preferred experience with adolescent and adult physical therapy in the areas of orthopedic and neurological injury. Licensed by the State of Alabama.

Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.

Experience: No experience required.
