Uses Engineering instruments in collecting surveying data for preliminary engineering surveys and in staking construction projects on an engineering survey party.

Performs inspections of contractor's materials and quality of work for conformance to plans and specifications.

Drafts plans for construction projects for the improvement of county highways and bridges by applying learned engineering drafting principles.

Scales and checks aggregates and bituminous materials for construction projects by using basic laboratory equipment.

Assists in estimating costs for construction and engineering projects.

Maintain and advance the Highway Department GIS programs.

May assist on various highway maintenance duties as required.
