Role Summary
The Structural Designer I is responsible for assisting in the creation of detailed technical drawings and 3D models to support engineering and manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Structural Design Manager, this role ensures that all design work meets quality and compliance standards while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The Structural Designer I works closely with the Lead Designer, Engineering team, and production staff to maintain accuracy and efficiency in design deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
  • Create detailed 3D models, layouts, and technical drawings based on project specifications.
  • Assist with modeling reinforcement.
  • Read, interpret, and apply information from technical drawings and project documents.
  • Assist in developing standard drawings and maintaining design documentation.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with the Lead Designer and Engineering team to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all departments to facilitate efficient project execution.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to brainstorming discussions.

Quality & Process Improvement
  • Ensure that all drawings meet established quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiencies and design processes.
  • Track and monitor engineering and design changes, updating models and drawings as required.

Project Execution & Timeliness
  • Complete assigned design tasks within the required turnaround time.
  • Support the creation of catalog drawings for quotes and preliminary requests.
  • Maintain organized records of parts, assemblies, and drawings.

Key Results
  • Drawing Accuracy: Maintain high-quality, error-free designs to support production.
  • Efficiency & Turnaround: Ensure timely completion of drawing submittals within the designated timeframe.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of design workflows and standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships across departments to streamline project execution.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with 3D computer-aided design (CAD) preferred, or equivalent experience in engineering, drafting, or related technical fields that demonstrate strong design and visualization skills.
  • Associate degree or certification in drafting, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Precast experience is a plus.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
