Position Overview:
 

CVS Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Vaccination Support Initiative at the Highland Park CVS retail clinic in Jacksonville, Illinois. This role is ideal for nurses who are passionate about preventive healthcare and enjoy working in a community-focused retail clinic environment.

The RN will provide safe, efficient, and compassionate immunization services while educating patients on vaccine safety, preventive care, and overall wellness.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer a wide variety of CDC-recommended vaccines, including:
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • COVID-19
    • MMR
    • Hepatitis
    • Tdap
    • Pneumonia
    • Shingles
    • RSV
    • Other routine adult and pediatric immunizations
  • Conduct pre-vaccination assessments, patient screenings, and eligibility reviews.
  • Evaluate patient medical history, allergies, contraindications, and vaccine readiness.
  • Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, potential side effects, post-vaccination care, booster schedules, and CDC recommendations.
  • Monitor patients during the observation period following immunization and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or emergencies.
  • Administer medications according to provider orders and nursing standards.
  • Accurately document vaccine administration and patient encounters while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain proper vaccine storage, inventory control, and cold-chain management.
  • Follow infection prevention, OSHA, and patient safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and healthcare team members to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while promoting preventive healthcare initiatives within the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience, including immunization or vaccination administration
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Strong medication administration and clinical assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail healthcare setting
  • Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List
  • Verifiable High School Diploma or GED
