Job description

Barbaricum is seeking an Information Technology Technician I (Computer Network Support Specialist) to provide technical support for information technology systems, network infrastructure, and mission-support environments. The selected candidate will assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration of computer systems, servers, and network services across physical, virtual, and cloud-based environments.

The Information Technology Technician will support day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure monitoring, and user support activities while helping maintain the security, reliability, and performance of mission-critical systems. The successful candidate will work closely with network, systems, and cybersecurity personnel to support operational readiness and multidomain training initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier I technical support for computer systems, network infrastructure, and IT services supporting mission and training operations.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop systems, servers, peripherals, and network-connected devices.
  • Support Windows and Linux operating systems, including user account management, system administration, and routine maintenance activities.
  • Assist with the operation and monitoring of physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructure environments.
  • Support virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, and Xen, including basic administration and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Monitor system and network performance, identify issues, and escalate complex problems as appropriate.
  • Assist in implementing security best practices, vulnerability mitigation efforts, and compliance with organizational cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, hardware deployments, software installations, and configuration management activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation, inventory records, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with network, systems, and cybersecurity teams to ensure reliable and secure IT services.


Required Qualifications:

  • ย Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must meet DoDM 8140.03 IAT II requirements.
  • Minimum 1yr of experience on computer systems and working with Informational Technology and networking.ย 
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows enterprise and Linux server / operating systems engineering, and administration with knowledge of network vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and mitigation.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud, physical, and virtual network architect, engineering, and infrastructure monitoring.
  • ย Expertise with hypervisors such as VMware, KVM, and Xen.
