Department/Building:    Baxter Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Nisswa Elementary, Riverside Elementary

Reports to:     Community Education Director / Child Care Program Coordinator 

Schedule:    Full-time, Flexible hours

Compensation:    Depending on experience, hourly rate from $19.96 to $21.72

Job Description

The Site Supervisor for the Fun & Friends Child Care Program is responsible for leading the daily operations of the before and/or after-school child care program within an elementary school setting. This role ensures a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and grow. The Site Supervisor oversees staff, supports positive child development, and serves as the primary point of contact for families and school personnel. 

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties

Program Operations

  • Plan and oversee daily Fun & Friends programming, including enrichment activities and recreational play
  • Ensure a structured yet flexible environment that meets the needs of all children
  • Maintain consistent routines, including attendance tracking and sign-in/sign-out procedures
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging program culture

Student Supervision & Support

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times
  • Build positive relationships with children and foster social-emotional growth
  • Implement positive behavior strategies aligned with Fun & Friends expectations
  • Address, document, and communicate behavior concerns appropriately

Staff Support

  • Supervise, schedule, and support Fun & Friends staff
  • Provide guidance, training, and ongoing feedback to team members
  • Ensure staff follow district policies, program guidelines, and licensing requirements
  • Lead team meetings and promote strong communication among staff

Communication

  • Serve as the main contact for parents/guardians regarding program information and concerns
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families on a daily basis
  • Collaborate with school staff, teachers, and administration to support student success

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure program compliance with Minnesota childcare licensing requirements and district policies
  • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and staff documentation
  • Manage program supplies, snacks, and materials
  • Follow and implement safety procedures, including emergency preparedness and drills

Health & Safety

  • Follow all emergency procedures, health guidelines, and supervision ratios.
  • Administer first aid as trained and document incidents appropriately.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and spaces are clean, safe, and organized.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience working with school-age children in a childcare or school setting
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of child development and positive behavior support strategies
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Work Environment

This program will be located in classrooms, gyms, and cafeterias, including outdoor spaces. Staff will regularly interact with students, parents/guardians, program staff, district Child Care Coordinator, and other school staff.  This is not intended to be all-inclusive; other duties and responsibilities from time to time should be taken and carried out as part of your job duties and description in a positive, supportive manner.

Physical Requirements

Employees are regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods of time; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, crawl, or push objects weighing up to 30 pounds. The position also requires specific vision abilities, including close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
