Job Summary
Nissin Ion Equipment USA, Inc. (NIUSA), part of the Sumitomo Electric Group, is a multinational company supplying and supporting state-of-the-art ion implanters and flat-panel display equipment. Nissin Ion has multiple subsidiaries that support its equipment, which is supplied to the world's leading foundry, logic, memory, and flat panel display companies. Nissin's USA subsidiary, Nissin Ion Equipment USA (NIUSA), has two locations in the United States. The sales and service office is located in Austin, Texas, while the R&D and applications office is located in Billerica, Massachusetts.
The Mechanical Design Engineer's responsibilities include
  • Product development for Component and System Product Assemblies for our Ion Implantation Systems.
  • Develop conceptual designs based on Product Marketing requests and brainstorming sessions. The typical brainstorming team would be scientists and senior engineering members.
  • Perform the detailed design, which involves engineering calculations and FEA simulation, when necessary, to ensure that the design will meet its requirements.
  • Design for Cost, Reliability, Safety, and Serviceability
  • Documentation generation. Assembly Drawings, BOM's, and Assembly Procedures using Arena PLM.
  • Prototype assembly and testing.

Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Expert skills in SolidWorks 3D CAD Design.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks PDM
  • FEA Simulation experience with thermal and mechanical stress is desirable.
  • Most of our system equipment operates in a vacuum environment. Experience with vacuum system design is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Techniques.
  • Ability and willingness to be hands-on in a lab environment for prototype assembly and testing.
  • Ability to work with a cross-functional team of scientists, engineers, procurement team, and laboratory staff.

The salary range for this full-time exempt position is $80,000 to $95,000 annually, with a 3-month probationary period. Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives.
