Job description

Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist (Inpatient- Flexible Scheduling Options)

Dayton Children’s Hospital, in Dayton Ohio, is currently recruiting a child and adolescent psychiatrist for our mental health unit and consult service.  We are offering flexible scheduling options, including:

  • 10-month (0.8 FTE) position with summer months off
  • Weekend-only (0.8 FTE) position, with approximately 5 weekends off annually

 

These roles are designed to support a more sustainable, flexible approach to practice while maintaining a strong clinical impact.

This opportunity supports staffing for our new free-standing behavioral health building, which will:

  • Double current inpatient capacity
  • Expand specialized programming
  • Enhance continuity of care by integrating inpatient, outpatient, and crisis services under one roof

 

Dayton Children’s Hospital has been recognized as a 2025–2026 Best Children’s Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, with national rankings in NICU, Orthopedics, and Mental Health.

Qualifications:

  • Board certified or board eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide initial psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management in inpatient and consult settings
  • Supervise psychiatric residents and child psychiatry fellows from Wright State University
  • Participate in coverage aligned with role structure (inpatient, consult, and/or weekend coverage depending on position)

 

Schedule Highlights:

  • 10-month role: structured as a 0.8 FTE position with extended time off during summer months
  • Weekend-only role: consistent weekend coverage model with built-in flexibility and approximately 5 weekends off per year
