Job description
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor positions
in the Center for Stem Cell & Organoid Medicine (CuSTOM)
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC)
CuSTOM is a multi-disciplinary center of excellence, integrating developmental and stem cell biologists, clinicians, bioengineers, and entrepreneurs with the common goal of accelerating discovery and facilitating bench-to-bedside translation. CuSTOM is a highly interactive collaborative community of over 30 faculty from different divisions at CCHMC, investigating various organ systems and biomedical challenges. Faculty in CuSTOM benefit from a unique environment and resources to study human development, disease and regenerative medicine, using pluripotent stem cells and organoid platforms.
CCHMC is a leader in organoid biology and one of the top ranked pediatric research centers with a highly integrated basic and translational research enterprise, with 1.4 million square feet of research space. Subsidized state-of-the-art core facilities including a human pluripotent stem cell facility, streamline infrastructure for patient iPSCs, CRISPR genome editing, high-throughput single cell genomics, biomedical informatics, a Nikon Center of Excellence and the CuSTOM Accelerator lab dedicated to clinical translation and commercial partnerships.
We invite applications from innovative collaborative investigators with PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degrees focusing on basic or translational research in human development or disease using stem cells or organoid models. Investigators using single cell analysis, live imaging or quantitative computational approaches will benefit from ongoing institutional investment in these areas.
Applicants should submit their curriculum vitae, 2–3-page research plan, and contact information for three references to CuSTOM@cchmc.org by December 1st, 2024.
Cincinnati Children’s and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine are Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employers committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. Qualified women and minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation
Cincinnati Children’s is home to one of the largest pediatric research programs in the country, with extramural grants and contracts surpassing $240 million and a total operating budget of $565 million. External funding has increased by an astounding 70% in the last decade alone. Cincinnati Children’s stands as the second largest recipient among children’s hospitals of R01 equivalent grants, fellowship grants, and awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Research Foundation continues to grow and invest in faculty success through internally funded grants, including more than $46 million in new funding opportunities and endowed chairs over the past three years. A deep collaboration among the brightest biomedical science minds and the most talented pediatric clinicians ensures that The Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation continues to be one of the nation's most significant sources of pediatric scientific discovery and innovation worldwide.
In 2015, Cincinnati Children’s reinforced and expanded its longstanding commitment to pediatric scientific research with the opening of a $205 million, state-of-the-art research tower, which together with 5 other adjoining research buildings amounts to 1.4 million sq ft of research space. A pioneer in biomedical research, leadership has a bold vision to transform discovery into therapies. In 2017, the Center for Stem Cell and Organoid Medicine (CuSTOM) was launched with a $30 million investment to catalyze the potential of organoid stem cell technologies, a system that holds great potential to revolutionize personalized and regenerative medicine in the 21st century. These investments, expansions and renovation projects underscore a remarkable legacy as well as a mission to be a leader in improving child health nationally and internationally.
