Job description
NIKE, Inc. does more than outfit the world's best athletes. This is a place to explore potential, obliterate boundaries and push out the edges of what can be. The company looks for people who can grow, think, dream and create. Our culture thrives by embracing diversity and rewarding imagination. The brand seeks achievers, leaders and visionaries. Here at Nike, it's about each person bringing skills and passion to a challenging and constantly evolving game.
WHO WE ARE
Join our team and join in shaping the essence of the Nike SB Brand. In this dynamic space where art, sport, and culture collide, you will be crafting innovative footwear and apparel that prioritizes the athlete's needs. Your role involves developing graphic product expression across various collections, from seasonal inline offerings, outside collaborations, and athlete signature products.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
As our Footwear & Apparel Graphic Designer II, you will combine your experience, problem solving abilities, and creativity to bring to life uniquely intriguing stories that resonate, inspire, and connect skaters across the world. The designs you create will be industry leading, trend setting, and built from deep insights of the best athletes in the world. You will be helping execute the team's future vision of the Nike SB brand through graphic expression that touches many forms of product applications. The ideal candidate needs to be hardworking, versatile, and a highly creative problem solver. This person will be asked to elevate the consumer experience through multiple facets of narrative, athlete connection, and product excellence.
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?
From concepting and building narrative, to working with development to finalize production details; and talking with athletes to choosing trim and print applications, this person will be challenged by a wide range of responsibilities and experiences. They'll use their skills to contribute to and execute on graphic direction, working through the lens of business and consumer insights. Accountabilities include Influencing cross-functional teams, contributing to the creative vision of performance and lifestyle footwear and apparel, cascading critical information, and communicating graphic concepts and seasonal initiatives to internal and external audiences.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
You will be helping to drive graphic strategy and vision while working with multiple teams of designers, developers, and product managers to deliver creative concepts that are in line with the Nike SB Design Ethos. This opportunity will require tight-knit collaboration to meet deadlines, stay within budgets, ensure feasibility of designs, all while communicating the creative story behind your work to internal partners.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING?
- Bachelors Degree in Design, Art or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience and training.
- 2+ years of graphic design experience in an agency, in-house setting, or closely related role in product creation.
- Passion and understanding of current and emerging design trends, as well as visual culture.
- Ability to translate insights into authentic narratives and visual storytelling.
- Ability to adapt to change and balance multiple, contending priorities.
- Professional visual and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively present design intent to internal and external audiences.
- Knowledge of, and curiosity to learn new aspects of graphic applications: repeat pattern creation, printing techniques specific to textiles, understanding how designs will translate from digital to physical, to name a few.
- Knowledge of, and curiosity to learn new apparel and footwear product creation and basic knowledge of product construction.
- Proficient in Adobe CC and comfortable working within new digital spaces.
- Ability to embrace diverse points of view while encouraging an environment of inclusivity.
We offer a number of accommodations to complete our interview process including screen readers, sign language interpreters, accessible and single location for in-person interviews, closed captioning, and other reasonable modifications as needed. If you discover, as you navigate our application process, that you need assistance or an accommodation due to a disability, please complete the Candidate Accommodation Request Form.
