Job Summary
The Night Auditor verifies the correctness of guest accounts by balancing each department's income. The auditor posts room and tax and local phone charges to guest folios. In addition to audit responsibilities, the person in this position works the front desk during this night shift (typically 11pm - 7am). This includes providing guest assistance as needed and monitoring the safety and security of the hotel while guests sleep.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Night Auditor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Completes posting of all charges.
  • Receives and records guest payments.
  • Posts room, tax, and local calls for the day. Total room revenue should balance to room revenue report.
  • Prepares revenue report to include all day rates.
  • Prepares and has ready by 7 a.m. each day the Housekeeper's Report, listing the status of check-outs, stay-over, vacant, and out-of-order rooms for the night just ended.
  • Assigns rooms in a courteous and efficient manner to all incoming guests.
  • Maintains the daily walk-in reservation count sheet.
  • Pays special attention to the phone and follows the basic rules of courtesy.
  • Records and makes all wake-up calls properly.
  • Provides information to guests in a courteous manner.
  • Knows and follows policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Completes the night audit by change of shift at 7 a.m. Gives information to other department heads, especially any information relating to the morning's breakfast business and meeting set-ups.
  • Completes duties and confirms on shift checklist as assigned.
  • Completes various other duties assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements
  • Hotel Night Auditor experience preferred
  • Prior Hotel Guest Services Representative strongly preferred
  • Ability to process math calculations
  • Office skills and technology, accounting/bookkeeping preferred
