Full Time
Position Summary
Vista Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Monitor Technician to join our Central Monitoring team. In this role, you will ensure continuous cardiac monitoring for patients, maintain compliance with organizational, departmental, and regulatory standards, and provide vital support to clinical staff. The ideal candidate is highly attentive, organized, and skilled at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure continuous telemetry monitoring for all assigned patients.
  • Accurately identify arrhythmias, notify nursing staff as required, and document rhythm strips per policy.
  • Apply, remove, and maintain telemetry equipment, ensuring proper function and signal troubleshooting.
  • Support clinical teams by collecting and recording patient data.
  • Communicate effectively with primary and charge RNs regarding patient status and changes.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of telemetry patients.
  • Maintain knowledge of current professional practices, including successful completion of arrhythmia training and ongoing competency requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to prioritize daily assignments and maintain accurate, timely documentation.
  • Adhere to Vista's Qssentials standards, demonstrating excellence in safety, communication, service, and teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and departmental operations.
Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of Monitor Technician education preferred.
Experience:
Ideal candidates will meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Current Illinois EMT license.
  • Successful completion of one clinical semester as a nursing student.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with prior Monitor Tech experience or arrhythmia education.
  • Previous successful experience as a Monitor Technician.
  • Military training as a hospital corpsman.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain focused and calm in high-pressure situations.
Certifications:
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR) certification required.
