Job description

Make a meaningful difference on every shift as a Behavioral Health Registered Nurse, delivering compassionate, high-acuity psychiatric care to adults and patients in crisis across inpatient and emergency settings while gaining valuable cross-training and clinical growth.

Unit & Patient Population

Behavioral Health Unit (BHU): 23-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit

4A Unit: 12-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit

Emergency Department Psychiatric Pods:

o North Pod (6 beds)

o West Pod (6 beds)

Patient populations include adults, adolescents, and children in acute psychiatric crisis

Conditions treated include depression, schizophrenia, mood disorders, and substance use disorders

Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, age-appropriate, evidence-based nursing care to psychiatric patients

Perform ongoing mental status and safety assessments

Administer medications and monitor patient responses

Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health providers, and social services

Serve as a clinical resource and advocate for patients and families

Float and cross-train across inpatient and emergency psychiatric areas as needed

Required Qualifications

Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent

RN Diploma with relevant experience accepted

Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license

American Heart Association CPR Certification

Working knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory and practice

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Experience

Behavioral Health or Psychiatric Nursing

Emergency Department or Crisis Stabilization

Acute Care or Critical Care nursing
