DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance / Field Operations

LOCATION: Aiken, SC - Savannah River Site

REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Field Quality - Night Shift is responsible for implementing and maintaining the field quality assurance and quality control program during Night Shift operations at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC. This position performs field surveillance, inspections, and audits to ensure that all Night Shift construction, maintenance, and facility operations activities comply with NQA-1 standards, DOE requirements, approved procedures, and project quality plans. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of field quality experience in a DOE nuclear or regulated government contracting environment and is comfortable working independently in a Night Shift setting.

What You'll Do
  • Perform field quality surveillance, inspections, and holdpoint verifications during Night Shift operations to ensure compliance with NQA-1, DOE Orders, approved work packages, and project quality plans.
  • Document and track nonconformances (NCRs), corrective actions, and quality observations; coordinate resolution with Night Shift craft supervision, work control, and on-call engineering personnel.
  • Review and verify that approved procedures, drawings, specifications, and work instructions are current, properly controlled, and being followed correctly during Night Shift activities.
  • Support receipt inspection of materials and equipment delivered during Night Shift to verify conformance with procurement documents and applicable codes and standards.
  • Prepare Night Shift quality inspection records, surveillance reports, and turnover logs; communicate quality status and outstanding items clearly to Day Shift QA personnel.
  • Participate in Night Shift pre-job briefs and post-job reviews; provide QA guidance to Night Shift field supervision and craft personnel.
  • Support DOE oversight inspections and customer surveillance activities occurring during Night Shift; assist in corrective action development as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of QGS quality and project objectives.
What You'll Bring

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor degree in Engineering Technology, Quality Management, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of field quality assurance or quality control experience in a DOE, nuclear power, or regulated industrial construction/maintenance environment.
  • Working knowledge of NQA-1 quality assurance requirements, DOE Orders, and applicable codes and standards (ASME, AWS, ANSI, etc.).
  • Experience performing field surveillance, nonconformance tracking, and corrective action management.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound quality decisions with minimal supervision during Night Shift.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering Technology, Quality Management, or related field.
  • Direct Savannah River Site or DOE major facility experience.
  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) designation through ASQ.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Savannah River Site access badge and pass all required background checks and DOE security requirements.
  • Valid U.S. driver license.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

  • DOE Q or L Security Clearance.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities; provides quality guidance and oversight to Night Shift craft and subcontractor personnel in the field.
