Job description

You could change someone’s whole night:

Provide comfort, reassurance, and a calm presence when it matters most. Offer assistance with nighttime routines, help with repositioning, provide gentle reminders, and be there when someone wakes feeling confused or unsteady. Sometimes, the greatest support is simply being there.

If bringing peace of mind to families and comfort to those in your care feels meaningful to you, this could be your calling.

We are:

At Senior Helpers of Central Oregon, we help seniors live independently and with dignity in the comfort of their own homes. As a locally owned, family-oriented agency, we are committed to delivering high-quality care with a strong focus on dementia care, chronic disease support, and companionship.

We are looking for compassionate, dependable caregivers who are dedicated to making a difference—day and night.

A night in the Life of a Caregiver:

Mrs. Thompson’s daughter reached out to Senior Helpers because her mother requires support overnight. With increasing nighttime wakefulness and mobility challenges, her daughter was no longer able to get the rest she needed to safely continue caring for her mom during the day.

As an overnight caregiver, you arrive in the evening to help Mrs. Thompson settle in for the night. You assist with her bedtime routine, provide support with personal care, and ensure she is comfortable and safe.

Throughout the night, you remain attentive and ready to assist if she wakes. You may help with repositioning, provide guidance if she becomes disoriented, or assist with safe trips to the restroom. Your presence helps prevent falls and reduces anxiety, offering reassurance in moments of uncertainty.

Light tasks such as preparing items for the morning or tidying shared spaces may be part of your shift, but your primary role is to provide safety, comfort, and peace of mind.

By being there overnight, you allow her daughter to rest, recharge, and continue being a loving and present caregiver during the day. Your support brings balance back to the household and ensures Mrs. Thompson remains safe, respected, and cared for in her own home.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work at least one 12 hour overnight shift in Bend.
  • Able to work 2 hour shifts up to 12 hours shifts. (Paid travel time between shifts)
  • Reliable transportation.

  • Willing to submit to background and motor vehicle records checks.
  • Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Offer companionship and emotional support to our clients.
  • Assist with daily living activities including walking, dressing, toileting, showering, and assistance for other ADLs as needed.
  • Collaborate to provide client updates and important health changes.
  • Prepare meals, run errands, do light housekeeping, and provide other non-medical services.
  • Ability to adapt to changes, be compassionate, be patient, and meet the needs of the client first.

What We Offer:

  • $22–$25/hr based on experience.
  • Flexible scheduling to fit your lifestyle and requested days and/or times off.
  • Part-time, as low as 4 hours a week, and all the way up to full-time.
  • Extra $1 an hour for weekend shifts.
  • Supportive team that always introduces caregivers to new clients. We ensure you’re prepared to work with needs of each client.
