Job description

Job Title: Student Worker - Certified Personal Trainer - Fall 2026/Spring 2027 - BC

Job Description:

Ceritified Personal Trainers are responsible for providing safe, positive, and effective workouts to a diverse population. This includes designing exercise programs for clients of all levels and abilities, providing appropriate modifications when necessary, and providing education related to the safe utilization of exercise equipment and facilities. Individuals holding this position must be able to develop, document, and implement one-on-one, partner, and/or group workout programs that match the needs and goals of clients. Clients include Baylor University students, faculty, staff, and spouses/dependents.

Responsibilities Include:
- Provide excellent customer service to all clients 
- Conduct new client intake processes, with appropriate fitness assessments in the initial session
- Create and develop exercise programs appropriate to fitness level and aligned with client goals
- Plan, prepare, and conduct safe and effective training sessions
- Regularly communicate with clients regarding training schedules for all sessions
- Update all client-related documents, assessments, programs, and sessions weekly
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality, due to the sensitive nature of client training information
- Maintain a high level of professionalism with proper attire, punctuality, and presence
- Assist with special events hosted by the department, including Late Night & Free Week 
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings (three per semester) and training (annually)
- Be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and emergency response protocols
- Communicate with supervisors regarding any schedule, meeting, or program conflicts
- Report any equipment/facility issues immediately to the Fitness Center staff & supervisor 
- Adhere to all Fitness Center, Fitwell Program, and Department of Campus Recreation policies

General Qualifications:
- A nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (ACE, NASM, NSCA, ACSM, etc.) and    
 CPR/AED certification are required for this position.(Questions, please email FitWell@Baylor.edu) 
-Must have a strong knowledge of exercise programming/design, as well as injury prevention
-Must know proper use of all fitness equipment, machines, and training facility
-Must know proper spotting techniques and related safety protocols 
-Must be able to positively motivate and support clients 
-Must complete all required Youth Protection Training & pass a background check
