Job description

About RCX Sports Foundation
The RCX Sports Foundation works to develop, promote, and implement diversity and inclusion in youth sports as the non-profit arm of RCX Sports. The foundation focuses on expanding youth sports opportunities so all children can experience athletics in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
Love sports, leadership, and being part of a great game-day experience? RCX Sports is hiring NFL FLAG Officials (1099 Independent Contractors) to support NFL FLAG leagues across Indiana (multiple locations). We hire and staff officials year-round across multiple seasons (Spring, Summer, and Fall), and assignments vary by league location and seasonal schedule.
Why this role
  • Training provided so you can feel confident with NFL FLAG rules, mechanics, and game-day expectations
  • Weekly pay (Starting at $30/game)
  • Work in a fun, positive environment focused on learning, sportsmanship, and respect

Role type
  • 1099 Independent Contractor
  • Seasonal, league-based assignments (multiple sites across Southeast Michigan)
  • Hiring occurs year-round for multiple seasons: Spring (Apr-mid-Jun), Summer (mid-Jun-Jul), and Fall (Sep-Oct)

What you'll do
  • Officiate youth NFL FLAG games in accordance with NFL FLAG rules, safety protocols, and the prescribed game format
  • Manage game time, flow, and schedules to support efficient league operations
  • Identify rule violations and communicate penalties clearly to players, coaches, and spectators
  • Maintain neutrality and professionalism, including de-escalating disputes when needed
  • Conduct pre-game field and equipment inspections to ensure safe playing conditions
  • Complete required post-game reporting and documentation
  • Promote a positive, welcoming environment that emphasizes learning, fun, and respect for all participants

What makes a great NFL FLAG official
  • In tip-top shape. A lot of running goes into officiating, so being physically fit helps.
  • Cool, calm, and collected. Stay level-headed in high-pressure situations.
  • Knowledgeable of the rules and referee signals. We will help teach the rules and mechanics.
  • Strong people skills. Confidently interact with players, parents, and coaches to keep games moving smoothly.

Expectations
  • Officiate assigned games to RCX Sports standards
  • Submit timely post-game reports as required
  • Arrive on time and represent RCX Sports professionally at all assigned locations

Location
  • Indiana (multiple league locations; assignments may vary by week/site - submit your location availability in the application)
  • You may be scheduled at various locations within a 25-mile radius of the primary area where you apply (based on league needs and your availability) and locations can change week to week.
