As of Jul 2, 2026, the average hourly pay for nfl radiology in the United States is $42.55, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $35.10 and $47.84 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the highest paying job in radiology?

The highest paying jobs in radiology are typically specialized roles such as interventional radiologists and neuroradiologists, who often earn higher salaries due to advanced skills and procedures. These positions usually require additional training, certification, and experience, and they often involve performing minimally invasive procedures or complex imaging techniques. Salaries for these roles can exceed $500,000 annually depending on location and workload.

What are the unique challenges faced by radiologists specializing in NFL or professional sports teams?

Radiologists working with NFL organizations often manage time-sensitive cases involving elite athletes, where quick and precise diagnoses are essential for player care and return-to-play decisions. They frequently collaborate with sports medicine teams, orthopedic surgeons, and athletic trainers, requiring strong interdisciplinary communication. The role also demands special expertise in musculoskeletal injuries common in professional sports, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret subtle imaging findings. Due to the high stakes and rigorous schedules, adaptability and discretion with sensitive medical information are also important challenges to navigate in this environment.

What is an NFL Radiology job?

An NFL Radiology job involves performing and interpreting medical imaging, such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, to diagnose injuries in professional football players. Radiologists in this role work closely with team physicians and medical staff to assess player health, track recovery progress, and ensure athlete safety. They may be employed by an NFL team or provide services at affiliated medical facilities. Their expertise helps teams make informed decisions about player treatment and return-to-play timelines.

What is an NFL Waterboy's salary?

An NFL waterboy typically earns between $53,000 and $75,000 per year, depending on experience and team. The role involves providing water and supplies to players during practices and games, often requiring physical stamina and knowledge of team routines.

Do NFL teams have their own MRI?

NFL teams typically do not have their own MRI machines; instead, they rely on specialized medical facilities and team-affiliated healthcare providers for imaging needs. Team medical staff coordinate with hospitals and imaging centers to ensure players receive timely diagnosis and treatment, often using portable or team-specific imaging equipment when necessary. Radiologists and sports medicine professionals are essential in interpreting scans and managing player health.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Nfl Radiology position, and why are they important?

To excel in NFL Radiology, professionals typically require a medical degree with specialized radiology training and board certification, coupled with experience in musculoskeletal imaging. Mastery of advanced imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, and ultrasound, as well as familiarity with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), is essential. Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills are crucial for working closely with athletic trainers, surgeons, and sports medicine specialists. These competencies are vital to ensure timely, accurate diagnoses and contribute to effective athlete care and injury management in a fast-paced environment.

Do NFL teams have radiologists?

NFL teams typically do not employ full-time radiologists; instead, they work with team physicians and medical staff who may consult radiologists for imaging interpretation. Radiologists are usually part of external medical facilities or specialized sports medicine clinics that provide diagnostic imaging services such as MRI and X-rays for players. These collaborations help ensure accurate injury diagnosis and treatment planning for athletes.
