Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The Creative Director will be responsible for overseeing the visual presentation and editorial quality of all published content and multimedia aspects, and they will be responsible for coordinating print edition layouts. This includes ensuring consistent and compelling design across all platforms, making edits to multimedia content before print, and guiding the creative direction of the newspaper.
Responsibilities
  • Design and Layout:
    • Lead the design and layout process for print and digital editions of the newspaper, ensuring visual consistency and alignment with brand guidelines.
    • Work with Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor to produce print editions.
    • Oversee the production of graphics, infographics, and other visual elements to
      accompany articles and enhance storytelling.
  • Multimedia Content Management:
    • Collaborate with writers, photographers, and videographers to integrate
      multimedia elements seamlessly into stories.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Attend weekly staff and editorial board meetings.
  • Creative Direction:
    • Develop and implement a creative vision for the newspaper, including the look
      and feel of the publication across all media and print.
    • Stay informed on current design trends and multimedia storytelling techniques.
Required Qualifications
  • Background in journalism.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and uphold ethical reporting standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience with The Panther or a comparable publication.
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
