Title: Newspaper Club Advisor

General Statement of Duties:

The Newspaper Club Advisor will guide students in creating a school newspaper or digital publication that highlights student voices and school events. The advisor will foster enthusiasm for journalism, writing, photography, and digital media, while helping students develop communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate with classroom teachers and staff to advertise the club and encourage student participation and content submissions.
  2. Recruit and support student reporters, photographers, and editors in planning and producing each issue.
  3. Teach students basic journalism skills, including news writing, interviewing, editing, photography, and digital publishing.
  4. Help students plan, write, and edit stories that reflect school life, student interests, and community events.
  5. Guide students in designing the newspaper layout (print or online) and selecting appropriate visuals and headlines.
  6. Supervise students during meetings and after-school work sessions.
  7. Encourage collaboration, creativity, and responsibility while maintaining high ethical and editorial standards aligned with CCS values.
  8. Maintain communication with school administration regarding publication schedules, content, and distribution.
