Job description

Job Description:

POLITICO is building. Across professional intelligence products and advertising, our business lines have significant growth potential - in key geographic markets where our brand is still developing, and in established markets where newer products need stronger awareness and demand.

We're hiring a Growth Marketing Manager to help drive that growth. You'll work alongside an Associate Director of Lead Generation & Audience Growth, owning execution across paid media, first-party data acquisition, and full-funnel campaigns that generate new audiences and business opportunities across all of our revenue lines.

You'll own real KPIs, run campaigns end-to-end, and bring a sharp, AI-enabled approach to everything you do. If you're the kind of person who wants to move fast, measure everything, and build something - this is the role.

Who You Are:

  • A collaborative professional who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes ownership from concept through execution, consistently delivering high-quality results.

  • An exceptional communicator and relationship builder who partners effectively across teams, influences stakeholders, and navigates competing priorities with confidence and professionalism.

  • A proactive problem solver with a strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to elevate the work and drive meaningful impact.

What You'll Do:

Audience Acquisition & Demand Generation

  • Drive first-party data growth - email subscribers, newsletter sign-ups, registered users, and qualified leads - with clear KPIs tied to each campaign and business line.

  • Generate pipeline for both professional product sales and advertising partnerships, building awareness among audiences who can monetize across our revenue lines.

  • Support the Associate Director of Lead Generation & Audience Growth in executing full-funnel strategies that move prospects from awareness to conversion.

  • Analyze attribution and funnel data to identify drop-off points and optimize at every stage.

Market & Product Growth

  • Execute go-to-market campaigns in key geographic growth markets - including California and other North American markets where POLITICO awareness is still developing.

  • Drive awareness and demand for newer professional products in both growth markets and established markets where newer offerings are still building their audience.

  • Partner with senior team members to develop market- and product-specific messaging, positioning, and channel mix.

Paid Media Planning & Buying

  • Plan, buy, and optimize paid campaigns across Google, Meta, LinkedIn, programmatic (DV360 / The Trade Desk), and emerging channels.

  • Manage budgets with a focus on CPL, ROAS, etc. - balancing spend efficiency against growth targets across multiple business lines.

  • Test and iterate on creative concepts, audience segments, and landing page variants to continuously improve campaign performance.

AI-Powered Marketing Operations

  • Actively use AI tools to improve how campaigns are planned, targeted, tested, and reported - not as a novelty, but as a standard part of how you work.

  • Bring a forward-leaning point of view on where AI can help a lean team execute at a higher level and move faster.

Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Own your KPIs - audience growth, lead volume, conversion rates - and report on them clearly and consistently to the team and to leadership.

  • Collaborate across editorial, product, sales, and advertising teams to ensure marketing efforts are aligned with business priorities and revenue goals.

What You'll Need:

  • 3-5 years of experience in growth marketing, performance marketing, or a closely related role - ideally in media, publishing, or a digital subscription business.

  • Hands-on paid media experience: you've built and managed campaigns in Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and at least one programmatic platform. You know the difference between a good bid strategy and a lazy one.

  • Fluency with data: comfortable in Domo, Marketo, able to pull your own reports, and confident connecting campaign performance to business outcomes.

  • Experience using AI tools in your day-to-day work - for copy testing, audience research, briefing, or campaign optimization.

  • A growth mindset: curious, experimental, and treating every campaign as a learning opportunity.

  • Strong written communication and the ability to present results clearly to senior stakeholders.

  • Experience working in or marketing to California, Texas, or other non-DC political/policy markets.

  • Familiarity with newsletter or subscription audience growth strategies.

COMPENSATION

  • $100,000-115,000 Annual Base.

The final salary offered will be based on factors including relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.

About Us.

POLITICO illuminates the forces shaping global power. Since 2007, we have delivered intelligence that anticipates tomorrow's headlines, not reports on yesterday's news. As politics has increasingly become the defining force of our era, our work has never been more vital.

Cabinet secretaries and Ministers start their mornings with our analysis. CEOs shape strategy around our reporting. Advocacy leaders rely on our insights to move policy. We deliver the straightforward facts and clear-eyed analysis they need to navigate the most complex political landscape of our lifetimes.

Our 1,100+ publishing professionals across the world's key democratic capitals-Washington, Brussels, London, Paris, Berlin, Sacramento, and New York-form the world's premier politics and policy newsroom. We tell the story of how power really works by explaining who wields it and how they plan to exercise it, connecting dots others miss and delivering scoops from sources others don't even know exist.

Innovation has always been a core tenet of our story. At launch, we bet that depth would trump scale, that talent would trump traffic, and that politics would become central to modern life. In 2011, we made another bet and launched POLITICO Pro to help decision-makers understand the business of government, transforming both how they shape government action and the business of journalism itself.

These bets have made POLITICO the most successful digital news startup of its generation and the indispensable resource for leaders who shape the future. Today, we are a rarity in media: a growing, profitable, and sustainable news organization.

POLITICO is a subsidiary of Axel Springer SE, a family-owned transatlantic media company headquartered in Berlin and New York. Axel Springer is dedicated to shaping the future of journalism in the free world, believing that a free and informed society is essential to democracy. The company's guiding principles - first articulated as The Essentials by founder Axel Springer in the aftermath of World War II - remain a cornerstone of the company's foundation today.
