**This position will be in the office for training, then may have the opportunity to telework up to two days/week, if eligibility requirements are met. Operating hours are from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for investigating potential violations of the Real Estate Licensing and Practices Act and leading the Real Estate Investigators. Most cases are complaint-driven, prescreened, and assigned to an investigator's case load. It will be your responsibility to conduct interviews, request and review documentation, write comprehensive investigative reports, and communicate effectively with complainants and respondents. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Investigations: Conduct detailed and consistent investigations of complaints to ensure compliance with Statute and Rules. Receive, research and respond to incoming questions or complaints; provides information on statutes and rules, and/or facilitates a resolution.
    • Managing a high-volume caseload, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent organization skills.
    • Acting as an expert witness. Giving testimony and recommendations in court cases and/or hearings.
  • Team Lead: Oversee a team of investigators, including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, reviewing and monitoring and evaluating performance, initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between the Chief Investigator.
    • Educational Development: Create and deliver training material, presentations, newsletter articles to educate staff, management, licensees and/or the general public and industry members.
    • Operational Compliance: Evaluates operational workflows and systems through regular reviews to ensure efficiency and adherence to established policy and standards.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Willingness to place real estate license (if applicable) on inactive status.
  • Experience working in the real estate industry.
  • Experience in preparing reports, documentation, and communications.
  • Background in roles that required effective communication and interpersonal skills, especially in handling inquiries or complaints.
  • Proven experience educating and training others
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel or their Google equivalents (Docs and Sheets).

PREFERENCE
Preferences may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience as a licensed Real Estate agent or broker providing a solid understanding of industry practices and terminology.
  • Investigative experience, previous work in a role that required investigative skills, such as in law enforcement, compliance, fraud investigation, or regulatory oversight.
  • Lead, Supervisor or Manager experience
  • Conducting fact-finding interviews demonstrating the ability to gather and analyze information effectively.
  • Legal or regulatory experience, working with legal documents, contracts, or in a regulatory environment, providing a strong foundation for understanding complex legal and compliance issues.
  • Project or case management experience, managing multiple cases or projects simultaneously, demonstrating organizational skills and attention to detail.
