OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox TV Stations
FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The News Operations Manager serves as the vital strategic link between editorial vision and technical execution, driving workflow innovation across traditional broadcast and live-streaming platforms. This leadership role coordinates directly between News and Engineering, supervising teams across field operations, streaming and broadcast studio production, and digital distribution. In this role you will oversee critical newsroom systems and advanced streaming technologies like TriCaster and LiveU. By translating editorial needs into technical requirements and partnering on capital technology procurement, the Manager ensures a seamless pipeline from field gathering to live multi-platform delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads advanced technology-related strategy and technical support for newsroom content creation across streaming, digital, OTT and traditional broadcast platforms.
  • Leads with a streaming-first mindset and has a strong grasp of streaming technology including TriCaster.
  • Directly supervises key personnel involved in field operations, live streaming, and post-production
  • Manage software systems critical to newsroom workflows and advises on best practices, emerging streaming trends and other technological opportunities.
  • Evaluates and implements tools that support content creation, delivery and performance measurement.
  • Partners with news leadership on budgetary decisions related to technology procurement and upgrades.
  • Functions as liaison between News Department and Engineering Department
  • Functions as liaison between News Department and IT Department.

TECHNOLOGY OVERSIGHT:
  • Administers and supports newsroom editing systems (e.g., BitCentral, Premiere)
  • Serves as the station's lead iNews administrator, responsible for user support, maintenance and training.
  • Manages the implementation, upgrades and staff training for third-party newsroom software including Megaphone, WSI, Baron's, LiveU, Starlink and other content or transmission tools.
  • Oversees systems related to tower cameras, weather data integrations, weather cameras and other visual storytelling platforms.
  • Strategic & Operational Innovation: evaluates existing workflows and identifies opportunities for technology-driven improvements.
  • Lead adoption and integration of new tools and software enhancements.
  • Collaborate with news managers to streamline editorial processes and enhance efficiency

PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT SUPERVISION:
  • Scheduling and management of photojournalists and editors
  • Maintenance of news vehicles
  • Field equipment upkeep and logistics
  • Orders and tracks all newsroom equipment/technology purchases
  • Editing Team Leadership: manages the editing staff including scheduling, training and performance coaching.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Initiates, tracks and approves purchases through Coupa in coordination with the VP of News
  • Provides input on capital planning and vendor relationships related to newsroom technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong understanding of live streaming workflows and technical systems. Must be flexible to work off-hours, nights, weekends and holidays depending on the news cycle. Background in one or more of the following disciplines: photojournalism, production, editing, IT, streaming systems or engineering. Demonstrated experience managing teams and cross-functional projects. Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate between editorial and technical language. Strong
organizational, problem-solving and leadership capabilities. Must have a "can-do" attitude.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university required.
OTHER: Minimum four years' experience as a News Operations Manager in a major market. Must have a valid Driver's License.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $100,000.00-115,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
