OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox TV Stations
FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network's national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION
WFLD/WPWR is seeking a News Associate Producer (Per Diem) for our evolving news department. The Associate Producer will be exposed to all aspects of our news operation. This person will contribute to daily programing across linear and digital properties. They will also work with our daily news gathering team. You will be expected to do story research, digital content production, assist in breaking news coverage and work with our robust digital operation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently research and generate news stories within WFLD's standards and guidelines.
  • Work closely with the station's social media platforms, assisting with creating content, generating story ideas and writing for digital platforms.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Must be organized, creative, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to take directions and work under deadline pressure.
  • Coordinate in-studio and remote news segments and events.
  • Coordinate studio guest arrivals and preparations.
  • Able to react to breaking news with a calm demeanor while managing resources for coverage.
  • Work closely with newscast producers to develop on-air segments.
  • Contribute ideas to all of the stations platforms and community initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Degree in Journalism or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: 2-3 years in similar roles with increasing responsibility.
  • Skills: Advanced oral and written communication, basic desktop editing, and familiarity with all media platforms.
  • Attributes: Strong sense of urgency, organized, creative, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Market Knowledge: Understanding of the greater Chicago market.
