WAND-TV News in Decatur, IL is looking for a full-time Producer who can emerge as a newsroom leader, make decisions, and then execute a coverage plan on-air and online.

WAND focuses on our employees, producing high-quality journalism, and serving our viewers on a variety of platforms in a variety of ways.

The WAND family supports each other inside and outside the newsroom. WAND is looking for a team player, plus someone who is highly motivated to learn and grow, and is willing to work hard every day to set the bar higher.


Essential Duties:

  • Create daily newscast for television broadcast
  • Develop coverage plan of news with the news team
  • Responsible for the writing and organization of newscasts
  • Work closely with reporters and photographers for efficient coverage of daily news
  • Create compelling graphics for graphic applications to integrate into newscast
  • Proofread copy to find errors, make corrections, and guide others to improve writing
  • Assist digital team with proofing, writing, and publishing stories on various digital platforms
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and expert communication skills that help tie all aspects of newscast together
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Creative and critical thinking is a must.
  • Strong writing and copy-editing skills
  • Knowledge of broadcast production, graphics, sports, and weather
  • Solid news judgment
  • Requires intelligence, diligence, strong ethics and accuracy

Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in journalism or related field required


Experience: Minimum 1-2 yearsโ€™ experience as a broadcast news producer or position requiring knowledge of current events and trends.

Expected pay range for this position is $35,000 - $40,000 annually based on experience.
