Job description

A Senior / NPI Engineer is required to support the introduction and industrialisation of advanced additive manufacturing components. This role combines manufacturing engineering, product design optimisation, simulation, and project delivery to ensure complex parts move efficiently from concept through to scalable production.

You will work across design for manufacture, process optimisation, metrology integration, and production support, ensuring high levels of quality, repeatability, and dimensional accuracy in highly engineered components.

Key Responsibilities:

New Product Introduction & Manufacturing Engineering

  • Develop optimal additive manufacturing build strategies including orientation, support structures, and build layouts
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles including machining allowances, finishing considerations, and fixturing strategies
  • Implement distortion compensation techniques to improve dimensional accuracy of printed components
  • Support development of post-processing workflows including surface finishing and GD&T compliance
  • Design precision CNC fixtures and collaborate with machining partners (internal and external)
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using production feedback and metrology results
  • Develop metrology strategies using systems such as CMM, CT scanning, optical measurement systems, and 3D inspection tools
  • Define inspection routines, fixture requirements, and data reporting approaches in collaboration with metrology specialists
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications
  • Interpret customer drawings and technical requirements
  • Provide hands-on technical support to manufacturing and operations teams as required

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate technical findings and project updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage client relationships and coordinate with external partners and suppliers
  • Support supplier management and outsourcing coordination to ensure delivery timelines are met
  • Contribute to cost estimation and NPI project planning activities
  • Support business development activities including proposal preparation where required

Requirements:

  • Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of engineering datasets
  • Knowledge of quality systems, lean manufacturing principles, and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly structured and detail-focused approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and fast-paced environments

Desirable:

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Exposure to additive manufacturing processes and downstream finishing techniques
  • Experience with parametric design tools such as Rhino/Grasshopper
  • Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g. ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation or equivalent)
