We are looking for a Principal Quality Engineer to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to Senior Manager, Quality, and based in Newark, DE. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and lead the application of quality and industry best practices in areas such as risk-based thinking, new product qualification and validation, product and process control, root cause analysis, and change control.
  • Use data to solve problems and to influence cross functional partners to drive meaningful quality improvements and establish best practices.
  • Lead multiple complex projects, utilizing statistical methods and structured quality tools to deliver breakthrough solutions.
  • Take responsibility for various quality assurance activities from raw materials to the end customer while expanding the concept of "quality ownership" throughout the site. This includes validation and qualification of changes and new products or materials, customer complaint resolution, and continual improvements of our products and business processes.
  • Work with minimal supervision. Work closely with shop floor personnel and Manufacturing Engineers to sustain and improve product quality for existing and future products. Coordinate and lead other tasks and projects assigned by Quality leadership.
  • Review process flows, engineering deviations, engineering changes and other activities that make up fuel-cell production.
  • Ensure products and processes adhere to ISO-9001, UL and CE specifications.
  • Apply SPC techniques to monitor End of Line Testing performance data of the Fuel Cell Power Module's and identify product performance excursions in the data to support KPI objectives.
  • Use problem solving tools such as 8D structured processes, 5 Why's, Fishbone analysis and other problem-solving techniques to determine root-cause and corrective actions.
  • Apply SPC techniques to monitor End of Line Testing performance data of the Fuel Cell Power Module's and identify product performance excursions in the data to support KPI objectives.
  • Work closely with product development engineering team to drive design improvements for defect reduction and improved reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or greater in engineering or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years' experience in quality assurance and control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and become a recognized expert and mentor in the use of various statistical methods and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Knowledge/Proficiency in risk-based thinking and root cause analysis
  • Ability to lead and facilitate cross functional problem-solving teams.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively with internal and external customers to positively influence the factory's quality mindset and culture.
  • A collaborative initiative-taker with the ability to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and leverage others to deliver meaningful results.
  • Experience developing or reviewing processes, forms, or other quality documents.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive approach to work efforts and problem solving and corrective action implementation.
  • Advanced familiarity with Microsoft Office and Word and other document development software, as appropriate.
  • Experience in providing Quality or Manufacturing Engineering support for a manufacturing process/facility. (Quality defect reduction, RCCA, etc.)
  • Experience with Industrial or Manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills required when dealing with suppliers, customers and internal groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prefer skills and database experience with software such as JMP, Microsoft SQL, Excel/Macros/VBA, Oracle, MES to analyze data.
