Job Summary
The Product Development Engineer will create and develop product designs that fulfill company or customer strategic goals while integrating the needs of marketing, sales, and manufacturing departments. This includes direct creation of manufactured ready parts and the fine-tuning of designs until they are ready for production. From the engineering viewpoint, product development can be seen as a process from invention, design, planning, and production.
Job Location
This is an onsite role based out of our Bulls Gap, TN plant.
Job Responsibilities
  • Design and develop components of vinyl, composite, aluminum, and steel guardrail, fencing, decorative accents, decking and molded systems. This includes component design, system design, stress analysis, and bill of material creation/maintenance.
  • Assist manufacturing by providing plant support when engineering related issues arise, relating to but not limited by; bill of materials, engineering drawings, product design issues, implementing product changes, and launching new products.
  • Create test plans and coordinate in-house R&D testing of both systems and components during product development.
  • Work with execution engineer to ensure all required component information is properly relayed to the vendor serving as a technical consultant throughout the process.
  • Create product specifications, drawings (component and bill of material), and create quality expectations for the finished products.
  • Create 3D model renderings of the product for use in glamour marketing brochures, website illustrations, and sample products.
  • Work with execution engineer to implement product engineering changes.
  • Work with quality control department to answer technical component questions, warranty claims, determining root cause of defective products, and required drawing documentation.
  • Work with third party engineers and building inspectors to provide proper test data and certified calculations for use in product installation.
  • Create and maintain product design schedules to determine critical path items and assist product managers with information to accurately capture details within the product launch schedule.
  • Use 3D printer to create parts for functional and ornamental review.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a field such as engineering.
  • 3 plus years' experience.
  • Proficient and have strong understanding of SolidWorks.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of basic business software (Microsoft Office).
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Innate desire to learn about all aspects of the product development process.
