Job Summary:
This position is for an Autonomy Engineering Development Specialist working in a Software Architect role for Remote Control section within Integrated Technology Solutions within Cat Technology. The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team to design, develop, integrate, and test robust, scalable features on embedded electronic control systems for use in remote-controlled machine applications.
What You Will Do:
  • Define and drive software architecture for Remote Control and autonomy systems on embedded platforms
  • Design, develop, and review real-time embedded control software
  • Lead AUTOSAR-based software architecture and development using Embedded C/C++
  • Define and govern software requirements with traceability to system and customer needs
  • Architect and guide software integration across system, hardware, and platform layers
  • Standardize machine interfaces across platforms
  • Support cybersecurity and functional safety in software design and validation
  • Support Sprint planning and execution
  • Drive software verification, validation, and quality practices
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and lead root cause analysis and resolution
  • Align delivery with global teams, platform initiatives, and production readiness goals
  • Mentor software developers and provide technical leadership across distributed teams

What You Have:
  • Programming: Knowledge of relevant programming languages and tools; ability to test, write, design, debug, troubleshoot and maintain source codes and computer programs.
  • Software Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of the organization's industry group, trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations, and trendsetters; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Application Development Tools: Knowledge of application and system development; ability to utilize a variety of specific tools and toolkits for developing applications.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Knowledge of the concepts, technologies and methodologies of artificial intelligence (AI); ability to develop, implement and/or apply artificial intelligence products and services in specific industry domain to achieve business goals.

Consideration for Top Candidates:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science; advanced degree preferred
  • Strong expertise in embedded C/C++ development in RTOS environments
  • Proven experience in software architecture and embedded/autonomy systems
  • Deep knowledge of AUTOSAR (Classic preferred), including BSW and RTE
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and structured methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink) in embedded environments
  • Experience with vehicle/machine networks (CAN, Ethernet)
  • Proficiency with development tools (GIT, debuggers, cross-compilers)
  • Ability to collaborate with and lead distributed engineering teams

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL or Clayton NC office or Irving, TX.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00
