The Nurse Residency Program

A 12 month transition-to-practice program designed to provide new graduate nurses a comprehensive evidence-based curriculum to support new nurses to a competent level of practice.

This program is supported by the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program curriculum, as well as ongoing Memorial Hermann Clinical Development programs.

We agree a healthy support system is the key to achieving success in a clinical curriculum, which is why our System Nurse Residency Program follows a cohort-focused model where you are able to grow and develop your nursing skills in a supportive setting. There is still a lot to learn after nursing school and we know finding a job and gaining hands-on experience can be overwhelming; our program is structured to help you develop in three critical areas: leadership, quality outcomes, and professional role.
Through the Nurse Residency Program, Memorial Hermann is investing in the future of the healthcare industry, the profession of nursing, and in your professional future by providing a strong foundation on which to start your career. The objective of our program is to enable you to develop from an advanced beginner into an exceptional nurse.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Ideal candidates will have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in an accredited nursing program.
  • Completion of a nursing degree from an accredited program; BSN preferred.
  • Current Texas RN license or temporary permit.
  • BLS Certification from American Heart Association.

*This cohort is available for August 2026 graduates*

Note: ADN and BSN Internal candidate applications at all participating Memorial Hermann campuses will be considered for this cohort. External applications will require a BSN excluding our Northeast, Sugar Land, Southeast & Pearland locations.

For a more efficient recruiting experience, please upload a copy of the following upon applying: your current resume (required), letters of recommendation (optional), and cover letter (optional).
