General Description

Under the direction of the Engineering Group Lead, the Mechanical Engineer I will work as an integral part of the team to complete New Equipment projects. This process will begin with a kickoff from the Applications Engineering team. The Mechanical Engineer will then work with the Engineering Lead to perform engineering calculations and to model the equipment. Once the engineering is complete, the Mechanical Engineer will be required to assist manufacturing and assembly by answering questions and making changes as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Lead mechanical engineer on assigned projects, responsible for design in collaboration with engineering team leads, engineering manager, project management, shop, and sales.
  • Manage the assigned engineering portion of projects, consistent with defined scope of work.
  • Hold self and support team accountable to company and customer for meeting timelines and company objectives.
  • Assist in communication and documentation of daily project status and release dates.
  • Lead or assist engineering efforts with teams of mechanical engineers and design engineers.
  • Perform calculations and design equipment in accordance using standard engineering methodology.
  • Schedule design reviews, customer reviews, release dates.
  • Assist Manufacturing, Assembly, and Field Installation teams for assigned projects by answering questions.
  • Lead, as assigned, to participate in development of SOPs and design guides.
  • Ability to have project focus, ability to partner with project manager.
  • Lead or assist project engineer with modeling and design, fit/form/function and manufacturability.
  • Utilize standard design and SOPs to develop engineered product on time and within budget.
  • Develop drawings for ease of assembly and installation, meeting customer objectives.
