Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an IMC (Intermediate Care) position at a Magnet-designated academic Level I/II trauma center in Madison, WI, requiring telemetry, ventilator, and transplant experience.
Details
- Works across two IMC units: an Acute Medical/Progressive Care unit and a Thoracic unit
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00amโ7:30pm), Monday through Friday
- Every other weekend required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Patient population includes telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown cases
- Ventilated patients and post-transplant care are part of the caseload
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating required as needed
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA-issued BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Experience in an academic Level I or II trauma center or similarly sized hospital required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience required
- Ventilator and transplant experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility โ local candidates are not accepted
- IV therapy, central line care/management, and blood product administration experience required
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management skills required
Additional Information
- A telemetry exam must be passed prior to starting the assignment
- The adult telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (V-fib, V-tach, asystole), no incorrect answers on 3rd-degree heart block questions, and an overall passing score of 80% or higher
- The pediatric telemetry exam requires identification of V-fib, V-tach, asystole, and sinus bradycardia, with a passing score of 80% or higher
- Travelers have two attempts to pass; a third attempt requires submission of a cardiac interpretation review course certificate of completion โ failure after three attempts results in assignment cancellation
- This is a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and recognized as a leading national teaching institution and referral center
- Preferred skills include arterial line management, PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
