What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors 

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with internal and external project team members, clients, contractors, and other technical experts to deliver effective HVAC, plumbing and fire protection designs. You'll leverage Revit and CADD and other design software to create solutions for a diverse range of projects, from initial design through construction. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of project responsibilities, collaborate across disciplines, and continue growing your technical and professional expertise. Based in our St. Petersburg, Florida office, you will play an important role in supporting our growing MEP presence in the region while contributing to a diverse range of commercial, educational, and institutional projects.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a variety of commercial, educational, and institutional facilities, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainable design.
  • Develop HVAC system layouts, equipment selections, calculations, and construction documents using Revit.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and technicians from initial design through final construction documentation and field inspections.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and other building systems.
  • Coordinate with project team members and contractors to support design development and successful project delivery.
  • Research and apply applicable building and mechanical codes, industry standards, LEED principles, and design best practices.
  • Support construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting field observations.
  • Manage multiple project priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure coordinated, complete, and high-quality construction documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • 1-5 years of professional experience in mechanical building systems design, with a strong focus on HVAC design.
  • Proficiency in Revit for HVAC and mechanical system design and construction documentation.
  • Experience with HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping design, and system layout.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical and building codes and industry standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple project priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel for local and regional projects as needed.
