Job description

Pennoni is hiring! We are looking for a Project Manager to contribute to our mechanical engineering projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Newark, DE.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams with a diverse range of projects including R&D facilities, laboratories, central utility plants, academic facilities, and commercial buildings.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project including budget, schedule, quality, staffing, client communications, and management of sub-consultants.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project team members as well as review and approval of drawings, specifications, and calculations. Complete design tasks as required to support the project team.
  • Prepare proposals from client RFPs, scopes of work, or general requests.
  • Oversee the monitoring and management of project billings and outstanding accounts receivable collection efforts.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and contribute to the development of new clients.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related technical discipline).
  • 12+ years of experience in MEP consulting industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC and mechanical utility system design, equipment sizing and selection, specification development, and applicable industry codes and standards (ICC Codes, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
  • Experience performing engineering calculations including cooling and heating load calculations, psychrometric calculations, ductwork static pressure, and hydraulic analysis for pipe sizing and layout.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PE credential is preferred!
  • Project management experience (minimum of 2 years)
  • Proven expertise with HVAC and Mechanical Utility system technology.
  • Experience with laboratory space and plumbing system design.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, BIM, etc.); experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit is a plus!
  • Experience working with HVAC/R modeling tools; experience with Trane TRACE is preferred.
  • Member of professional organizations relevant to the field (ASHRAE, ASPE, etc.)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment (with both co-workers and clients) with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to demonstrate a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
