Located in the vibrant technology hub north of Austin, the Round Rock team plays a critical role in designing and developing next-generation lighting and controls products that serve customers across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure markets.

Hardware Engineer

Current Lighting is seeking a hardware engineer to join our progressive anddynamic fast-paced enterprise and device controls automation team. We are developing the next generation of world class Internet of Things (IoT) connected lighting and building automation controls and applications. This is a hands-on technical role that will directly contribute to the development and expansion of our cutting-edge, cloud-connected IoT applications and offerings with the latest hardware and software technologies and tools. You will be part of our innovative technology design center located in Round Rock, TX, a hi-tech hub north of Austin.

We are seeking a talented, creative problem solver to design and validate hardware products. You will support the complete hardware development life cycle, from initial product concept through field deployment. This role requires strong technical background and close collaboration with highly skilled, cross-functional teams across multiple locations. You will work closely with leading product management, hardware, embedded firmware, and software engineering teams to understand system and business needs, propose solutions, and develop end-to-end products.

This will be an on-site position in Round Rock. At this time, we are not offering sponsorship and/or relocation.

Essential Functions

  • Contribute to design of high-performing and reliable hardware for embedded systems using microcontrollers, sensors, and analog/digital interface circuits.
  • Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Create schematics,componentlibraries, and PCB layouts for new and existing products
  • Assistin debugging and resolving issues during development and field operation
  • Investigate and troubleshooting field returns and customer-reported issues
  • Support product regulatory certifications for UL, FCC, etc.
  • Support new products through release to manufacturing and field deployment
  • Support system hardware performance and reliability validation testing
  • Support sustaining engineering efforts, including product updates,componentchangesand cost optimizations
  • Document testing procedures, results, and engineering processes;maintainclear records of design changes, validation outcomes, and troubleshooting activities
  • Develop andmaintainbasic embedded firmware for microcontroller-based products.
  • Support board bring-up and troubleshoot hardware and firmware interactions using common lab and debugging tools.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree inElectrical , Computer Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 1+ years of analog and digital hardware development experience
  • 1+ years of experience with printed circuit board (PCB) layout and schematic capture tools (Altium)
  • 1+ years of hands-on knowledge of hardware development for embedded systems including analog and digital components.
  • Hands on knowledge of various standard communication protocols and topologies, including Ethernet, I2C, RS232, RS485, SPI
  • 1+ year experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
  • 1+ years’ experience developing embedded firmware in C or C++ experience.
  • 1+ years’ experience with source control tools such as Git experience.
  • 1+ years’ experience with debuggers, programmers, and firmware test methods

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with wireless development – Bluetooth, etc.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams

Compensation

The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This salary range is $70,000+.
