Job description

Garland Technology is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Hardware Engineer to design and support advanced Ethernet switching products. This role involves full lifecycle hardware development—from initial concept and prototyping to production support and ongoing refinement. You’ll play a critical role in developing new designs, writing Acceptance Test Procedures, collaborating with our software engineers, and supporting production.

The ideal candidate is relentless in their attention to detail, with a sharp eye for dissecting complex datasheets, functional specs, and hardware documentation. They take full ownership of their work, drive projects forward with urgency, and consistently deliver results on time—never compromising on quality. Passion for precision and a strong accountability mindset are key to excelling in this role.

Candidates with experience in Packet Brokers, Ethernet TAPs, and Ethernet switch ICs from Broadcom or Microchip are highly encouraged to apply!

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test high-performance Ethernet switching products for enterprise and embedded applications.
  • Support, maintain, and enhance existing hardware designs to ensure continued performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with colleagues effectively & contributes to the architecture and planning of new product designs.
  • Actively participate in design and peer reviews to ensure robust and scalable hardware implementations.
  • Work closely with software engineering team to develop both test code and production code, ensuring seamless hardware/software integration.
  • Perform detailed analysis of chip-to-chip interfaces to validate electrical characteristics such as timing and voltage margins.
  • Troubleshoot and debug hardware systems, using tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal integrity simulations.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, innovative, and supportive engineering team environment.
