Job description

SRI Biosciences Division is looking for a highly motivated Research Associate (RA) to contribute to multiple innovative programs spanning from drug target discovery to cell and gene therapies and drug delivery. At SRI, we identify novel targets for complex genetic and age-related disorders and develop new cell-based therapies for these diseases. We also create innovative devices and systems for drug delivery and diagnostic applications. The RA will support mission-focused work in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology and biochemistry. The ideal candidate has a background in cell and/or molecular biology and is passionate about learning new cutting-edge technologies and contributing to multidisciplinary projects.

This position will work onsite in our Menlo Park, CA office


  • Perform routine mammalian tissue culture.
  • Execute commonly used molecular cloning techniques.
  • Isolation, amplification, and analysis of RNA/DNA.
  • Execute biochemistry assays.
  • Routine laboratory environment housekeeping.
  • Excellent record keeping including electronic lab records, SOPs and short reports.

  • Bachelors or Masters in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Neuroscience or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience in standard molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in stem cell culture and/or any drug delivery related topics is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams is a plus, but not required.
  • For appointment as a Research Associate I
    • New grad Bachelors degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Neuroscience or related field.
    • Salary range: $55,580-$70,304
  • For appointment as a Research Associate II
    • New grad Masters degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Neuroscience or related field or a Bachelors degree with at least 3 years of experience
    • Salary range: $62,750-$83,150

Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
